Our weekend in St. George, Utah

After Derk's grandpa's funeral on Saturday, we tried to have a little fun. Derk's mom saw this fun little water park type of thing, so we took the kids to that. Grandma, Grandpa and Jessica came with us, which was really fun. Grandpa and Kyrie were even playing tag, and I'm kicking myself for not getting pictures! They had a blast.

Kyrie and Asher were way too busy playing to let me snap any
pictures, but I did get a couple of Derk and Bri.

He actually smiled for a picture!
So handsome....

Before heading home today, we decided to go up to Snow Canyon. We were in a pretty big hurry to get on the road, but we did one hike, and the kids had a great time. Kyrie and I learned about volcanoes in science last week, so it tied in perfectly by accident! It was really neat!

Derk, Kyrie and Asher, way up at the top
(it doesn't look very high because of the zoom on my lens...)

The only way I'm in a photo is if I take one of myself.... ;)

And lastly, some scenery pictures. I got a lens hood for my camera, so I was experimenting with that to see if the scenery pictures I took with it were better than the ones I took without it. Boy were they!

I love the contrast of all the different colors-- the black of the lava rock, the white of the limestone, the red of the sandstone, the green of the shrubs, the blue of the sky...

The sandstone is so amazing and has all kinds of swirls in it

It was a busy weekend, but we had tons of fun. The only thing we didn't do that I wish we had time for was to go to Zion National Park. That place is breathtaking! As we were driving around town, Derk and I both realized that we really love it there, and we hope to move back someday.

Asher looking into the holey rocks reminds me of Triple Play when we told him there was a dragon in the volcano, and he rushed over and tried to look inside. He's a keeper, and of course so is outgoing Kyrie, and sweet and shy Cambria.

Hope to see you guys really soon!
