OFF! Not just for mosquitos!

This is a little tip I want to pass along! Cambria got this beautiful dress from my mom for Christmas and promptly ruined it with bright purple nail polish. Yes, I keep it up high, but this monkey literally climbed up 3 shelves to get to it. Yes, I have since moved it to another (top secret!) location.

Anyway, as I nearly cried, I decided to look online to see if there was a remedy for removing nail polish from clothing. This did take a bit of elbow grease, but it worked like a charm!

Many thanks to the makers of OFF! mosquito repellent for saving Bri's dress!

Here are a couple of the befores. I actually didn't think to take pictures until I was mostly done getting the stain out, so this isn't even close to the worst of the stains.

And here are the shots after I'd done only the first application. You can see from the picture on the right that there was still a bit of nail polish left, but after another scrubbing session, it was totally gone. Yay!

What you do is saturate the stain in OFF! and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I took a clean wash cloth (an old one I didn't mind ruining) and scrubbed and scrubbed (and scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed.....). Do this on both sides of the fabric. I found that rubbing from the under side worked the best at getting the stain out (it seemed like rubbing it from the front was only pushing the stain in deeper most of the time). Then I'd run it through the washer. While it was still wet (do NOT run it through the dryer because that will set the stain), I did another application. It took 2-3 times of this before I got it all out, but it's totally worth it! Now just pray you never have to use this little tip. ;-)
