Cambria's going through a phase. It's actually equally obnoxious and adorable. I don't know how it can truly be both of those at the same time, because I can't think of anything else that's obnoxious and adorable at the same time, but it just works out that way. Don't ask me how.
But anyway, her newest phase is that she changes her clothes. Multiple times a day. And by multiple, I mean like 25 times. And that's probably an understatement. Every time she goes into her room, she comes out wearing something different. It's always a skirt or a dress. If I dare try to put her in pants, she lets me know I've made a very grave mistake that I must remedy immediately or suffer the wrath!
It's obnoxious because I spend time getting her dressed in the morning, only to have her run straight into her room, shut the door, change her clothes and then come out and ever so sweetly say, "Mad, Mama?" Of course I can't stay mad when she's that darn cute, so then I have to cuddle her. And then she runs off, happy as a clam, totally content to change yet again.
It's obnoxious because, after changing each time, she gets into something and gets dirty. So then I have like 25 extra outfits to wash. The main thing she gets into is food. This child is a human vacuum. She thinks she needs to eat every second. About 30 minutes after she'd eaten 2 large pancakes for breakfast this morning, she ran into the kitchen as I was finishing loading the breakfast dishes and asked me for lunch. Seriously, child?! She easily out-eats Kyrie and Asher and even her parents! :)
It's cute because she's getting really into this pretend world and loves to play dress up. She's always a Mommy and pushes her "baby" around in her stroller. I say "baby" because it's not a doll, it's the cat. Sometimes Isis gets annoyed and runs to hide, so then Bri will use one of her favorite dollies instead, but usually Isis doesn't object too much.
It's cute because she has like 5 outfits that she alternates between. She doesn't change into dress up clothes. Apparently that's no fun. (Maybe I should donate them?!) She has to wear her regular dresses that are hanging up in her closet and the skirts in her drawer. And when she takes off a dress or a shirt to wear with her skirt, she has to pull off every single shirt/dress off every single hanger in the closet. And then she throws all 47 hangers on the floor.
It's cute because, if she can't find one of those particular 5 outfits she alternates between, she'll go to great lengths to find said outfits. As in, she'll go into her bathroom, get the stool out from underneath the sink, drag it over to the washer/dryer, dumps out any laundry sitting in baskets on top of the washer/dryer and digs through until she finds whatever outfit she feels like wearing that second. She doesn't care if it's covered in mashed potatoes or syrup or even urine.
It's cute because she even insists on wearing one of these outfits to bed instead of pajamas. The catch is that she changes after we've tucked her in, so she'll come wandering out in the morning wearing one of her outfits, inside out and backwards, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
But mostly it's cute because it's hilariously obnoxious.
So just for kicks today, I decided I'd try to snap a picture every time I noticed she'd changed. I think I managed to catch every outfit she changed into. Now, don't let the fact that there are only 5 pictures fool you. Like I said, she alternates between these 5 outfits, so these 5 pictures depict about 25 outfit changes. Literally.
