I hate the pressure of coming up with a New Year's Resolution by December 31st. So I have taken extra time to really ponder as to what I want my goal(s) to be this year. I have several, but the most important goal is to really focus on my spirituality this year. I admit that I tend to let life get in the way of feeding my spirit, and I have really noticed what a huge (negative) difference that has made. I am going to pray for opportunities in my daily life to make every day, mundane things a way to help my entire family grow spiritually.
As I pondered this, I realized one really great opportunity was while potty training Asher. So I started singing his Primary songs to him while we're sitting in the bathroom teaching him how to use the potty. His little face just lit up, and he now LOVES to use the bathroom because he loves to sing those songs so much. Kyrie constantly sings her Primary songs as well. Her favorite place to BELT out "I Am A Child of God" is in Wal*Mart. My first reaction is to shush her and ask her to please sing a bit more quietly, but then I realized that I should just let her sing. Maybe someone hearing the song of an innocent child will spark an interest, and in turn give me a missionary opportunity. Hearing their sweet little voices singing praises to their Heavenly Father is such a humbling experience to me. I should be that excited about those simple, spiritual things that we tend to forget about.
So, to help me in my goal to focus on my spirituality, I have started a blessing blog. The link to it is on the left hand side of my page, and you'll also find an explanation as to what exactly it is and how I got the idea for it. I know it will be an amazing tool to help me reach my goal.
