I'm the Room Parent for the Kindergarten class, so I'm in charge of planning and organizing all kinds of things, mainly all their parties. Kyrie's teacher got ahold of me earlier this week and asked me to plan a Valentine's Day party (pretty short notice, which worried me, but it turned out that I got plenty of volunteers).
I definitely have an advantage because I get my pick of what fun things I want to do before I send out the mass email to all the parents asking them for their help. :) I knew Kyrie would love to make cupcakes, so that's what I signed us up for this time. I think I bit off more than I bargained for this year because I signed up for cupcakes and then absent-mindedly told Kyrie we'd hand make all of her Valentines as well. With my own 3 kids plus the little girl I babysit on Wednesday nights, it was pretty tough going for a while trying to frost 24 cupcakes and keep kids out of my hair.
Kyrie was tickled with how these turned out. The dark pink part in the center is actually a heart, but you can't see it very well in the picture. Then the hearts on top are stuck in with toothpicks. She had a blast frosting cupcakes (and actually ate more of the frosting than she frosted :P ). After the cupcakes were sufficiently doused in frosting, it was time to make her Valentine cards. She just finished painting the construction paper, and after it dries, we're going to cut out hearts and write a little message on each.
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! May you all show those you love how much you love and appreciate them, not only on Valentine's Day but also the 364 other days of the year as well.
