Fun in the Sun

The kids have sure become quite the swimmers since we moved here. Kyrie's swimming has gotten so much better. When we first moved here, we were still working on her keeping her head up consistently and how to stay parallel to the water. Now, in just a few short weeks, we've moved on to teaching her the breast stroke and have helped her master the back float. She's doing so great and was extremely proud of herself tonight as she back floated across the entire pool. Her newest and most favorite accomplishment has been to teach herself how to do flips in the water.

Asher's been begging to swim without his vest on. He does a really great job, though, as Mommy, I nearly have a heart attack as I watch him go. He's so at ease in the water and loves to go under and swim. He'll be doing it in no time. He does surprisingly well and can go a long time without taking a breath, which is the part I don't like. I kept begging him tonight to show Mommy how he can take his head out of the water to breathe, but for some reason he refused to and said he can "do it just fine, Mom." Oh, okay. I guess he thinks I'm too overly-protective, wanting him to continue to breathe and all. :)

Cambria's also come leaps and bounds in the last month. At first, she hated the water. She wanted to sit on the edge of the pool and possibly dip her feet in but more likely just stare. Then she graduated to allowing herself to get in, but only if I held her the entire time. Then she'd stand on about the 3rd step down inside the water and would jump to me, which we were so proud of. Last week's milestone was her jumping in from the outside of the pool. Tonight she actually wanted to do a back float like she saw her big sister doing, and she had a ball! She actually wanted Derk to hold her more than she wanted me to hold her. I'm so impressed with how brave she's gotten. She only likes to swim for 45 minutes, and then she's begging to go home, though.

Kyrie and Asher really don't like that. :)

Here are some cute pictures from our fun evening at the pool.

If he ever checked the blog, I think he'd have my head for posting this picture. . . :)

Kyrie's flip - she's so proud of herself. :)

Can you hear him saying "cheese!"?

She went and sat on the pool chair to let us know it was time to go. :)

What cute pics. I'm super impressed Kyrie can do a flip! I love to go to the pool with the family too..though I wish Aaron enjoyed it. He's anti water basically cause he's blind as a bat without glasses. Sigh. He's getting better. We are actually off to the pool now.

Oh and Happy 7th! Our anniversary is next week. What a cute post you wrote. Love that you went to Chuck E. for the big night! lol
