Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

Derk's parents came down to visit for a week, and we had such a fun time. Jean flew in on Monday night and Scott joined her on Tuesday afternoon. The kids had been counting down for a few weeks and were beside themselves with excitement.

We just hung out at home, playing games and such, the first part of the week. But then on Thursday we headed over to San Diego. We arrived around 1:00, and Scott suggested we spend the afternoon walking around Old Town. We'd never been there before, and we're so glad he suggested it because it was really cool! It has such neat displays, amazing flowers and gorgeous architecture. We thought of you the whole time, Rebecca! Mom and Dad even commented about how we'll have to take you there sometime because it's just the coolest architecture we've ever seen!

Friday we hit Sea World. I goofed and thought the park opened at 9, so we had about an extra hour to kill before we could get in. :)

The kids think the rides are the best part, of course. :)




They have a really fun kiddie play area next to the rides.

Then it was time for the Shamu show! Derk and Asher decided to go down lower into the "Soak Zone" while the rest of us sat and watched them get drenched from higher ground. :)

I think Derk's telling Asher that the water is going to come down on his head. :)

Saturday the kids had their last soccer games of the season. Grandma and Grandpa were there to see them play for the first time, and the kids loved it.

It was "Family Day" at the complex, so there was free food, snow cones and cotton candy, which Cambria obviously thoroughly enjoyed. :)
