Our week with Nana!

First of all, let me give you a quick update on me. I'm still feeling extremely exhausted, no matter how many hours I sleep. But I'm able to do a lot more than I have been able to do. My body still lets me know when I overdo it, and I'm not able to do nearly as much as I'd like to be able to. For example, we were grocery shopping on Saturday, and Bri wanted me to hold her. So I picked her up, and I hadn't even walked 10 steps in the store before I couldn't breathe. :( So there's definitely still some blockage. But things like vacuuming, carrying the laundry to/from the laundry room, etc are all things I can finally do again. I'm definitely making progress and can't wait to feel 100% normal again!

On to the post!

I love my Mommy. She has been so concerned for me since I went into the hospital and couldn't take it any more. So she booked a ticket and came down to spend a week helping me. I loved every minute of having her here and didn't want her to leave! She and the kids had a total blast playing, and I was feeling good enough a couple of days that we were able to do a few fun things, too. I also thoroughly enjoyed having her here to cook for me! Nothing like Mom's cooking!

We started the week off with a Wii bowling tournament! I don't think my mom has ever played a video game in her life, but here she is, kicking our butts! :)

They spent hours upon hours in the pool! It's been in the high 70's/low 80's for the past few days. Just perfect, beautiful weather! We've had our a/c totally off and the windows open for about 3-4 days now, and the cool breeze is just delicious. Yes, yes, I'm totally trying to rub it in! Is it working? ;)

Nana made the kids an awesome pancake breakfast one morning!
Kyrie got a crown, Bri got a ring and Asher got The Incredible Hulk!
(I accidentally deleted the pictures of the girls' pancakes, darn it!)

The cats spent the whole week outside, wanting to be in on the fun.
Little Zelda got stuck on top of the ladder! It was hilarious.

We went to the park in our neighborhood.

And the most fun thing was both Mom and I got hair cuts! Anyone who knows my mom knows she's had the same poofy hair for something like 25 years. Her cut is so dramatic and adorable!

Here's mine. I decided I was really sick of the length I had. And despite Derk's begging for me not to cut it, I did it anyway. And I'm so glad I did! He thinks it's too short but admits it looks good. I think I should get a pixie cut to show him what short really is! ;)

Thanks so much for coming, Mom!
We love you so much and had the best week!!

What a fun time with your Mom! I'm so glad she was able to come down and help you- and have so much fun with the kiddos too! And both your haircuts look great! (I think I'm ready for a big hair change too) : ). Love you guys!

Awesome! I'm so jealous of mom! She has already told me ALL the stories by now, she won't stop yappin'!

I can't wait to come back and see all of you. And your hair looks GORGEOUS, but only because of the face it's surrounding. ;)

Aw, Hillary every picture is oozing with love and happiness. I really hope I am able to go up with Jonathan and see your family. I love your haircut, it really frames your lovely face nicely.

Well Hillary here is your mom and your comments are so sweet. I loved every minute of being with you and my beautiful grandchildren. It was also nice to be with Derk and he was lovely to me. As for being worried, I still am and am plotting perhaps another visit if you don't get your blood up and you remain so weak. As your mother, I do not like to see you in pain, nor without energy as this is what you need to run your household. It breaks my heart to see you so rundown. I will talk with you tomorrow and I will go from there. It was my blessing to be with you and the family. We all had a wonderful time under the circumstances. It hurt me to leave you...mother's never get over their children no matter how mature and older they get. Consider the blessing mine! I was tickled that you stated: "I love my mommy"! No words can describe the joy of those words. I will treasure them forever. I love my Hillary...You are my precious girl, my gift and I do not take it lightly. I praise God for you and have since the day He made you mine.

Love to all of you and especially my Kyrie, Asher, and Cambria...Here is my message to them!

BE GOOD FOR MOMMY, SHE NEEDS YOU TO JUST BE HER BEST KIDS. SHE'LL BE BETTER SOON AND THAN YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE FUN YOUR USE TO. HELP HER TO GET BETTER...I love you three little wiggle-worms... Nana
