Decorating for Christmas

I cannot believe it's already December (well, tomorrow). Has this year gone by super fast for anyone else? It seems like Derk just graduated yesterday! But here we are, 6 months later, in a new state, getting ready to bring in another new year. Why did time just drag by ever so slowly when we were college students, and now I can't get it to slow down?!

Derk got the Christmas decorations down so we would have them ready to put up for FHE tomorrow, but the kids were too excited and begged to put them up tonight instead. So that's what we did!

After some bantering back and forth (okay, I admit it, it was borderline arguing :) ) about where the tree should go, we finally compromised and got to work. I was really nervous about setting it up this year because I didn't know how well Cambria would do. All she wanted to do last year was eat all the ornaments. Plus, I have Isis now, which basically means I have 4 children (5 if you count Derk!), so I feared the worst. :) To my surprise, Cambria actually loved putting them on the tree this year. She loved it so much, in fact, that she kept taking them off, just so she could put them back on again. :) Isis, on the other hand, has been trying as hard as she can to knock the tree over and will probably electrocute herself batting at the cord to the lights. :)

Kyrie asked me to not help them decorate -- she wanted the 3 of them to do it all by themselves. I thought that was a great idea, so I let them have at it. Now I remember why I didn't let the kids use those icicle ornaments last year -- glitter everywhere! But they had a ball and were so cute. I think the tree looks even better with unevenly spaced ornaments and mix-and-match lights.

As we were putting up the tree, Cambria kept screaming, "It's kissmas, it's kissmas!" It was so cute. Derk finally said, "Cambria, do you even know what Christmas is?" She got very quiet and said, "Ummmm....." Guess not! But any day that gives you an excuse to bust out a bunch of things that can easily be made into a mess is a great day in her book! :)

They thought the star was the coolest thing!

It was Kyrie's special job to put the star on top of the tree!

Wow, I love every picture here. They're all beautiful. Especially that one of Asher, sheesh. So precious.
